If you knew our Shiba Inu, you would know that he is ONE PICKY eater! So we have him on a high protein diet with Innova Evo dog food, but in terms of treats, we have so far been using just the Innova Health Bars, which Momo just absolutely loves.So at the most recent Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue, we got a sample of a dog treat made by Dogswell. Now frankly I haven't heard of these treats before, but let me tell you, Momo LOVES THESE treats!
But if you look at the package, it will tell you that these treats are made in China. Now this is one of the reasons that we went with Innova dog food (wet and dry) because of the recall of dog food that was manufactured in China and contained certain amounts of melamine.
So out of concern, I sent an email to Dogswell to inquire:
Are your products made in China? If so, what are you doing to protect against the recent problems with Dog Food out of China?That was at Sent: Monday, August 18, 2008 5:20 PM, now wouldn't you know that we went out for dinner and came back and I received an email back from the company, a little over 2 hours for a response, now that's service!
Below is what they responded back--let's just say it raises my confidence level quite a bit on their product that this company is so honest and upfront, it's hard to find companies like that these days. So I'd recommend that you try out their line of products as your dog will absolutely LOVE THEM! And feel safe that you have a company like this backing you up!

Capitalized "Third Party" seems deceiving. Why didn't they link to the company name and online reports? This letter actually pegged them down a notch in my opinion.
The word strive is misleading. We all strive, and we all fail. But why don't they stop striving and make sure the stuff is top notch. I'm scared. I'm going to start making my dog and cat's food.
I own a pet store that specializes in animal rescue, and natural,organic and holistic diets. We sell Dogswell. It was a hard choice for me to bring this product in and I have been questioned why. Simply put this product is quite good its not my favorite and its not the worst. RECALLS CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE.. In fact one of the best pet foods just had a voluntary recall in australia. Its sad that this happened at all in china but look at the positive. EVERYONE IS DOING THE BEST THEY CAN TO MAKE SURE IT NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN!! Without mistakes no one ever moves forward.
In my experience the people that are anti china products are the people that have been and still are feeding their animals horrible crap food. Lets face it if you buy your food at a box store it sucks. almost all dog food makers are using rendered meat from the good ol USA which is far worse than buying cage free treats from a US company manufactured in China.

if you own a pet store then you are aware that many of us never take chances with our pets. I spend $600 -700 per month on my dogs, cats, horses food and suppliments. I use Smart Pak to order my "Wellness" brand food as they also test all food. I also buy Innova/EVO dry foods and treats, US made and in the COMPANY plant.Dogswell deceives by not stating upfront where these treats are made. China manf. poisened their own babies. NO, I will not trust China . I also only purchase NAME BRAND grocerys for our family.
Very mis leading article. Dogswell is never up front and always give half truths. That just tells me they do not have complete confidence in there product- So I think I will pass.
I purchased a bag of Dogswell Chicken Jerky Treats from Whole Foods last week and gave them to my eight dogs. They never gets these kinds of treats and I should have looked more closely at the bag, made in China. I avoid those products like the plague. Anyway, I made an unwise assumption that Whole Foods would be selling guality products, but now I know they do not. The bag touted many claims, no added hormones(added to what, the packaging, the live chicken, the product?), no byproducts, no antibiotics, on and on.
Several of my dogs developed loose stools and one had a seizure. I am in the process of contacting Dogswell and Whole Foods about this suspect product.
I will never ever purchase any commercially made treat again.
I am very alarmed by this company right now. I fed my champion Great Dane their chicken glucosamine treats (strips) for about 2-3 years...however, I bought a bag about 2 weeks ago from a holistic grocery store and upon feeding about 3 strips to my dog, she broke out into the worst hives I have ever seen. Please be cautious! She recovered just fine, but it was not a pleasant ordeal and my trust in this company is gone.
