Lipstick Jungle - Just a like or like enough?

As most who know me know that I'm someone who reluctantly got dragged into watching Sex and the City with my wife back when it was "hot". And as much as men these days would say that those types of shows are for women only, similar to shows like 'The View' or 'Opera', I say, men alike, we can watch these shows and take marvel in the drama just like the next gal. Sure we won't understand all the little aspects of the show that are inside jokes for women alike, but nonetheless, a good show.

So the creator of Sex and the City recently came to light on NBC with a show called 'Lipstick Jungle'. Now I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical of this show to begin with--first let's consider this. If the creator of Sex and the City focused on a show that takes place in New York City, and stars women of varying degrees of success, but still highlighting the power roles that women hold, and who are encumbered by odd and sometimes twisting sexually based circumstances, what could the next series offer that is different? Surprise, surprise, based in New York, power women, sexually charged issues--but there's a catch, there is something different about this show! You know, I haven't quite figured out what that is, but there is. So for all those who are wondering, this is a GREAT show so check it out!

Heroic Age - Over but still a memory

With work and all, sometimes I get tied up and the Anime backlog just finds a way to keep logging! So as with is everything, I had to make some time to get through some of this backlog, but where to begin. That's the problem with these anime's is that you don't know if somethings going to be a hit, or if something is going to be a bomb! Take my experiences in the past for example, Basilisk looked like a great Anime, but after getting into the first couple of episodes, definitely not for me!

Getting back to Heroic Age, this is one that you have to download and watch! What is it like--it's like Eureka Seven, meets Gundam, meets StarGate! At any rate, a great anime! The story is about Nodos which are these super mechs that are left by the creators of the galaxy as the ultimate power in the galaxy. THere are these tribes that manage the relationships within the galaxy and need to reach a certain point in time before they assend. The Iron Tribe, which is essentially the humans, find the last Nodos and then go to war with the Silver and Bronze tribes who are the two over-arching powers in the galaxy. The last Nodos, Age, bonds with the princess of the Iron tribe who has powers similar to that in the Silver tribes (telepathy) and needs to find a way past the war that her brothers are driving the galaxy into, and then a way to open the door that leads to ascension.

The series only has 26 episodes, but unlike other series that drag on and on, these 26 episodes are captivating and will keep you drawn in and engaged until the very end. I do have to say that I was a bit disappointing be it that it was a bit expected, but much better than say the ending of Eureka Seven that absolutely had me at tears (which happens all too infrequently, but is more than welcome for a series to try and draw those emotions).
